A couple weekends ago we were in my home town, Holland, Michigan hanging out with some friends for the weekend. While there, we went to an old staple for dinner, New Holland Brewery. We all have fond memories from college when it first opened so it is always fun to go back. However, the last time I was there was before I was diagnosed with Celiac disease so I had to tread lightly. I knew they used to serve cider, so I wasn’t to worried about it being a brewery. Although I was disappointed to learn that they don’t make their own cider anymore, and only had one flavor available. Luckily it was Vander Mill Cider which is one of my favorites (and from Michigan with Hope College Roots!).
The menu mentions a gluten free crust available for pizza’s but that is the only place gluten free is mentioned. Very few, if any, appetizers had the possibility to be gluten free but some of the salads had promise (as usual). I talked with the server about the gluten free crust pizza and he confirmed the sauce was gluten free and that they change their gloves, utensils, and try to avoid any cross contamination when working with the gluten free pizzas, so I decided to go for it. I got the pulled pork BBQ pizza. It was very good, and spicy! Although I have to admit, when I looked at the other person at my table that got the same pizza but not GF, I have to admit theirs looked better and had more toppings, but such is life! The menu is somewhat limiting for me, but I really liked what I got and would go back again.
