Last Saturday was the weirdest weather day. It was snowing and blizzardy with whiteout conditions, and then 10 minutes later it would be sunny. It did this all day long. And it was April 2nd. I guess that is Chicago weather for you.
We met up with some friends for a wine tasting and then decided to try out El Tapeo which is at the top of Le Méridien in Oak Brook. It is a spanish tapas place and we have been wanting to check out especially because it has a large gluten free menu.
The restaurant is really nice with a good view of the weird weather we were having and you could even see some of the Chicago Skyline in the distance. The food was very good, however a little pricey. Definitely not an everyday place, but I would definitely go back!
We ordered: shishito peppers, bacon wrapped dates, shrimp, grilled octopus, and pork belly.
The shishito peppers were my favorite, but everything was good. I liked that the gluten free version of the shrimp came with pretty tasty gluten free bread. The waitress was very knowledge able and even double checked everything with the kitchen and came back and asked if my non-gf husband and friends would like one of the sauces on the side that had gluten in it.
What I/We ordered: shishito peppers, bacon wrapped dates, shrimp, grilled octopus, and pork belly.
